A LITTLE KNOW-HOW

About this tool

Break an absolute HTTP or HTTPS URL into its components without visiting it. Query parameters are shown in order, including repeated keys. The browser’s URL parser normalizes the URL, and a password in the URL is reported as present without displaying it in the result.

How to use it

  1. 1

Paste an absolute URL beginning with http:// or https://.

  2. 2

Parse the address without fetching it.

  3. 3

Inspect its components and ordered query parameters.

Questions, answered

Does this visit the URL?

No. It uses the browser’s URL parser locally and makes no request to the address.

Are duplicate query keys preserved?

Yes. Query parameters are returned as an ordered list of name/value pairs, so repeated keys are not overwritten. Plus signs in query parameters are decoded as spaces.
