Why can the output be larger?
An already optimized image may grow when encoded again. Compare the displayed sizes and keep the original when it is smaller.
Are animation and metadata preserved?
No. These tools create a single still image using your browser. Do not use them to preserve animation, EXIF, color profiles or print-resolution metadata. Keep your original file.
